Akaushi Wagyu Beef

Our Akaushi beef offering comes from Sixteen Peaks Cattle Company in Louisville, Tennessee in the foothills of the Smoky Mountains.  Akaushi cattle (red wagyu), originally from Japan, is not only known for its marbling and phenomenal taste but also has health benefits that are unique to the breed.  With a higher concentration of monounsaturated fatty acids, Akaushi beef can help to reduce cholesterol, the prevention of coronary heart disease, and weight loss (according to the American Heart Association).  Akaushi Wagyu beef also has a high concentration of CLA (conjugated linoleic acid) which helps support our immune systems and oleic acid, a compound found in olive oil that the USDA touts as good for the heart.  Oleic acid gives Akaushi Wagyu beef a buttery flavor profile that is truly remarkable.
